Strategy 3: Attract, develop and keep great people

INT1 Our superannuation benefit plans and services we offer are only as good as the people who develop, manage and deliver them. Attracting, developing and keeping great people is critical to meeting the needs of our members and employers.

Great people will listen and try to understand our members and employers' needs. They will respect, trust and encourage each other. To attract, develop and keep great people, VicSuper needs to have a working environment that enables people to complete their work effectively, encourages innovation and continuous improvement and that is personally, professionally and financially rewarding.

Our aim

Our aim is to provide a positive working environment that is safe, productive and rewarding. We encourage innovation and seek to make VicSuper a sought-after place in which to work.

How does this contribute to a sustainable superannuation fund?

It's our people who develop our benefit plans and provide the services to our members and employers. As we intend to be around for the long term, it makes sense to invest in our employees.

Providing personal and work development opportunities, job satisfaction and ongoing employment, results in benefits for both our employees and their families. Strong employee engagement helps to increase attraction and retention of employees, and contributes to a high performance culture and overall job satisfaction. This is then reflected in our ability to provide outstanding service to our members and employers.

A high level of staff retention provides an economic benefit to VicSuper by contributing to lower employment costs, as well as retaining important knowledge and skill sets within the organisation.

Our approach

To achieve our aim, we focus on the following key areas:

  1. workplace profile and culture
  2. learning and development
  3. employee engagement and satisfaction
  4. competitive benefits and remuneration.
