Other activities
In 2006/07 VicSuper was also involved in a range of other activities.
The IGCC prepared a research report looking at climate change and particularly the effects of emissions trading on Australian companies operating in sectors such as infrastructure (stationary energy and airports), steel and construction materials. These reports will be released in the second half of 2007. VicSuper was a member of the steering committee for this research report.
In June 2007, VicSuper made a submission to the Victorian Government's Land and biodiversity at a time of climate change consultation paper. This consultation paper included the terms of reference for a possible government White Paper to be released in late 2008 and a number of key policy questions to which VicSuper was able to respond.
Throughout the year we also participated in the Australian Business and Climate Group (ABCG). The ABCG is a collection of nine companies (Anglo Coal, BP Australia, Deloitte, Mirvac, Rio Tinto, Santos, Swiss Re, Westpac and VicSuper) who collaborated to prepare a report focusing on what market conditions, government policies and changes in consumer behaviour are needed to drive the extensive development and deployment of low emission technologies in Australia. More information on the group can be found at http://www.businessandclimate.com/.
